Meat Pie Triathlon

You probably can't spell or pronounce it, but might remember Natchitoches (NACK-uh-tush) from Steel Magnolias or when Oprah Winfrey declared it the "Best Little Town in the Whole USA!" Louisianians knew about this quaint historic town long before the stars arrived. Since the 1700's it's been home to the famous Natchitoches Meat Pie, when street vendors chanted "Hotta meat pies! Ten Best Things To Do In New Orleans

However, for a famous beignet and café au lait combo from Café Du Monde you’ll gladly stand in line again tomorrow morning.

Southern Decadence

Southern Decadence started thirty-some years ago as a simple going-away party. As a top gay Labor Day Weekend destination, it has evolved into one of our world's major annual events. One of the largest annual celebrations in New Orleans, it has become known as the "Gay Mardi Gras." People begin to arrive on the Wednesday before Labor Day, and generally don't even think about stopping or going home until the following Tuesday. With over 100,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender participants each year, the economic impact on the city was estimated to be in excess of $95 million.

We Like to Stay Here: Roosevelt Hotel

Resurrected, Restored…Resplendent -- the legendary Roosevelt Hotel re-opened its doors in July. This landmark hotel embraces 106 years of history with more legendary stories than thi s article can accommodate, but one thing we can recommend -- choose this property to "accommodate" you when visiting New Orleans. A $145 million restoration has literally uncovered and restored every architectural details of it’s former splendid self--and the grandeur of the place is matched by the modern amenities and the luxury you can expect of a Waldorf Astoria Collection.
