It was the most anticipated event in the history of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and by all accounts, The Boeing Championship at Sandestin was an incredible success in its first year at its new home. The PGA Champions Tour came to town, and Sandestin put its best foot forward for seven days as national and international television audiences looked on at the newest gem of the golfing world.
The St. Joe Company's WaterSound Beach Club will host "A Heart Healthy Extravaganza," featuring an evening of healthy, gourmet cuisine prepared by five of the area's best chefs, a silent art auction, live entertainment, and dancing under the stars on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. WaterSound Beach Club is located at 146 Dune Drift Lane, in WaterSound, Florida.
The Shops at Sandestin will host the 20th Annual Great Southern Gumbo Cook-off to spice up anyone's afternoon from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009. Tickets can be purchased by calling The Market Shops at 850.267.8092. A portion of the net proceeds from the Gumbo Cook-off will benefit the United Way of Walton County, FL.
The King or Queen is selected by a secret committee and announced only weeks before the parade, and is always a rescued/adopted dog. Much like royalty, once selected, his or her Majesty begins a whirlwind of costume fittings, grooming, parties, media interviews, photo shoots, etc.
Every year, the Krewe of Arfeous donates a portion of the proceeds from registration fees, merchandise sales, etc. to worthy animal welfare groups. These groups must be non-profit organizations actively involved in animal welfare. Proceeds from previous years benefited C.A.R.E.
Florida Sportsman Magazine will host their annual Fishing and Boat Show at the Okaloosa County Fairgrounds and the popular magazine promises that the Show will be bigger and better than previous years, with ongoing seminars, kids’ events, hands-on instruction and demonstrations. The most popular part of the event--a huge indoor tackle sale--will fill the 50,000 square foot Fairgrounds Expo Hall, with fishing boats and accessories added to the mix.
