Up north, they’re shoveling snow, but down here, it’s all about bare feet in the sand and a warm breeze off the water. This is quite simply the best time of the year in these parts, and visitors are soaking it in. Key West is loved for so many different reasons ––– its natural beauty, its history, its fun loving spirit and its fascinating diversity. Now, defining what’s uniquely Key West or what’s the essence of Key West is kind of like defining art: hard to explain, but you know it when you see it. There’s a certain combination of sights, smells and sensations that captures what this place is all about, and I believe that’s what really keeps people coming back, and what people really love about being here. This belies the belief that all of this year’s Atlantic turmoil was driven by heat alone. And here in the good ‘ol USA, we had no shortage of significant weather stories. Snow pack issues in the Southwestern US, near record drought in the Pacific Northwest and Great Plains, and record precipitation in the Northeast. But, perhaps most importantly, 2005 goes into the books as one of the warmest years since 1895. Click for more!
A New Year for Club Hour and the Southeast! By Randy Peterson, Host of Club Hour Okay.... the hangovers have passed, the blurred vision cleared and the resolution list has already been disposed of. It’s mid-January and Club Hour is gearing up for another incredible year... but before we head into ’06, let’s take a look back at my favorite spots from ‘05. Beer Man for a Day - Come along as I took over the beer route and "played" deliveryman for the day! No one is quite certain what may come from his knowledge bank and when I sat across the table from him one afternoon in Key West, I learned everything I never really wanted to know about the fascinating world of Bocce.
