August 9, 2008

The art gallery opening party will feature free music, food, wine and spirits of all kinds and its attendees will have the opportunity to meet shopkeepers and local creative artisans for a festive night in the French Quarter.

For the first time, the festivities of Dirty Linen Night will culminate in a second line parade beginning at Dutch Alley, winding up Royal Street, and ending on Bourbon Street.

"We are so excited about this year's Dirty Linen Night," said Rachel Vella, co-coordinator of the event. "It is such a wonderful way to bring art lovers together and to the French Quarter. Our hope is that everyone will take this opportunity to spend some quality time in the French Quarter--experiencing the beauty and creativity present right here in the Crescent City."

Since its inception 7 years ago as a spoof of the widely popular "White Linen Night," "Dirty Linen Night" has grown every year to the delight of locals and visitors alike, with more than 4,000 guests in attendance last year.

This year's event will feature beverages provided by Glazer's Companies of Louisiana, celebrating seven years as the original sponsor. The founders of Dirty Linen Night have also partnered with the non-profit organization BORN, to bring awareness of the organizations efforts. The specific goal of BORN is to provide "Better Opportunities Right Now" by connecting socio-economically disadvantaged citizens with life skills, information and resources through education, advocacy and referral services.
