Atlanta Film Festival
Atlanta, GA -Since 1977, the Atlanta Film Festival has brought the newest and most daring voices working in cinema to Atlanta audiences. In 2008, the festival continued the tradition, screening approximately 160 of the finest films selected from more than 1600 entries and 66 countries. Out of the films screened, 20 feature length narrative and documentary films will competed for the festival’s prestigious jury prize.

The festival's legacy includes screening the early films of Steven Spielberg, Victor Nunez, Spike Lee, Julie Dash and Robert Rodriguez to supporting the works of the new vanguard including Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs), Jeremy Saulnier (Murder Party), Dan Bush (The Signal, E-Motion Studies), Dave Bruckner (The Signal, David vs. Jeremiah) and Jacob Gentry (The Signal, Last Goodbye) and more.
The Atlanta Film Festival is also an Academy Award ® Qualifying Festival for the Best Live Action Short Film Category.
In 2007, the festival partnered with the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema to centrally locate the festival in Midtown, dubbed the Heart of Atlanta’s Arts and home to a wide array of restaurants, bars and shops. Making the change allowed attending filmmakers and audience members more opportunities to interact and to attend the myriad of panels, screenplay readings, film discussions and parties that accompany the fest.
